Today, I’m pleased to present Tess Whitty, who runs Swedish Translation Services from Park City, Utah. She also offers information and advice on her blog, The Business of Translation. Here are Tess’ answers:
- If you could change one thing about your freelance translation career up to this point, what would it be?
I would have liked to get a proper education in translation.
- What is the best piece of advice that you have been given by a fellow translator, or about business in general?
To dare to turn projects down, since there will always be others. This has made me able to balance my work/life and to focus on well paying and interesting projects instead of stressing out due to too much work, or projects that I did not like.
- If you weren’t working in the language services industry, what would you be doing?
I cannot imagine. I used to work with international marketing, which I enjoyed, but after working as a freelance translator for 9 years, I am never going back. I found my dream job!
Thanks, Tess!
